Restoring forest ecosystems, strengthening communities.

Wildfire and drought pose significant threats to forests.

It’s a wicked problem that requires collaboration.

The Wasco County Forest Collaborative represents a broad constituency of stakeholders interested in healthy forest ecosystems, economic vitality, and quality of life in Wasco County.

Wildfire and drought are becoming more severe, threatening ecological and economic values forests provide.

A century of fire exclusion and past forest management practices have led to unhealthy forest ecosystems. Restoring forest health and ecological resilience is critical to preparing our forests and communities for a hotter, drier future.

Our forests provide us with so much, let’s take care of them.

The Mt. Hood National Forest provides drinking water to the City of The Dalles and numerous irrigation and agricultural uses. Wasco County forests provide habitat for threatened and endangered species and facilitate abundant recreational opportunities. Healthy and resilient forest ecosystems are critical to ensuring the social, environmental, and economic well-being of our community.
